The Difference between AC Motor and DC Motor

Release:admin Visits:

D C motor (D.C. motor) is a motor that realizes the mutual conversion of DC electric energy and mechanical energy. When it runs as a motor, it is a direct current motor, which converts electrical energy into mechanical energy; when it runs as a generator, it is a direct current generator, which converts mechanical energy into electrical energy.

DC motor is composed of stator and rotor, and there is a certain air gap between them. The main feature of the structure is that it has an armature with commutator. The stator of DC motor is composed of base, main pole, commutation pole, front and rear end cap and brush frame. The main pole is the main component of air gap magnetic field of DC motor, which is composed of permanent magnet or laminated core with DC excitation winding. The rotor of DC motor is composed of armature, commutator (also called rectifier) and rotating shaft. The armature consists of armature core and armature winding. The armature core is composed of silicon steel sheets, and the slots are evenly distributed in its outer circle. The armature windings are embedded in these slots. Commutator is a kind of mechanical rectifier. After laminating the reversing sheet into a cylindrical shape, the metal clamps or plastics are formed into a whole. The commutator plates are insulated from each other. The quality of commutator has a great influence on the operation reliability.

AC motor is used to realize the mutual conversion of mechanical energy and AC electric energy. Because of the great development of AC power system, AC motor has become the most commonly used motor.

Compared with DC motor, AC motor is simple in structure, easy to manufacture and firm, and easy to be made into high speed, high voltage, high current and large capacity motor due to the lack of commutator. AC motor power covers a wide range. According to its function, AC motors are usually divided into alternator, AC motor and synchronous camera. Because of the reversible working state of the motor, the same motor can be used as both generator and motor. It is not very accurate to divide motors into generators and motors, but some motors mainly operate as generators and some motors mainly operate as motors.
